Landlords
The Greensboro Housing Authority works with over 2,500 landlords/owners to provide Housing Choice Vouchers to qualifying participants in Greensboro, NC. Families typically pay between 30% and 40% of their adjusted annual income towards housing costs and GHA provides a subsidy that generally represents the difference between the tenant share and the gross contract rent (rent plus utilities). The subsidy, called a “Housing Assistance Payment” (HAP), is paid by GHA to the landlord/owner of the property. This payment is subject to limitations imposed by GHA’s Payment Standards. Payment Standards are based upon Fair Market Rents (FMRs
) established by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
